Brow Lift

A BROW LIFT, IS A PLASTIC SURGERY PROCEDURE ABLE TO MINIMISE THE APPEARANCE OF FOREHEAD WRINKLING, FROWN LINES AND A DROOPING BROW.

A Brow Lift procedure returns the eyebrow and forehead to their natural position, correcting the fatigued appearance of the eyes and smoothing the deep furrows of the forehead. It is often combined with an Upper Blepharoplasty (Upper Eyelid Reduction).

As our faces age, one of the earliest signs is the development of a fold or flap of skin over the upper outer eyelid. initially this can appear to be due to an excess of skin in the upper eyelid but in many individuals is actually caused by the gradual descent of the forehead and outer eyebrow area (lateral brow ptosis). In advanced cases, this lateral brow ptosis can impede vision and act as a blinker.

Brow Lift surgery will return the outer eyebrow to its natural position giving a more arched appearance. With the outer part of the brow being slightly higher than the inner part, this makes the eyes look larger and more alert.

Deep forehead creases and frown lines, caused by overactive muscles and occasionally excess skin can be also corrected by Brow Lift surgery, providing a much smoother appearance.

Where the brow position requires correction and the shape improved without the removal of skin, an Endoscopic (keyhole) Brow Lift can be performed as day surgery. In older individuals or where excess skin is required to be removed to lift the forehead; a coronal or open Brow Lift is performed, whereby a fine scar is placed across the top of the head at the hairline or within the hair.

Some of the benefits of Brow Lift surgery include:

  • Improved eyelid appearance
  • Reduction of frown lines that develop between the eyes near the nose
  • Smoothing of forehead wrinkles
  • Improved eyebrow shape
  • Improved results of Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)

Brow Lift surgery is performed in hospital under a General Anaesthetic as either day surgery or with an overnight stay. Pain is minimal, however swelling and bruising may take 2 to 3 weeks to disappear completely. Most people are able to return to work 10 to 14 days after their surgery.
